Gun Denhart co-founded Hanna Andersson children’s clothing company in 1983 and is well known as a civic leader in Portland, Oregon. She joined Threshold’s Board of Directors in early 2008. A native of Sweden, Gun helped build Hanna Andersson into a leading retailer of high quality clothing made from soft cotton materials. The company also became a recognized for its community involvement and its family-friendly workplace practices. While leading the company, Gun began the practice of giving 5% of the company’s pre-tax profits to children’s groups. The company’s policies on flex time and childcare reimbursement resulted in Working Woman magazine recognizing Hanna Andersson in its annual list of 100 Best Companies for Working Mothers. Gun also is a charter member and past board member of Business for Social Responsibility. She co-authored the book Growing Local Value and currently serves on the boards of Mercy Corps, Ecotrust, Stand for Children, the Oregon Business Association and The Russell Family Foundation.
