2016 In Review Giving by the Philanthropy 50, The Chronicle of Philanthropy’s ranking of the Americans who donate the most to charity, totaled $5.6 million in 2016. This is 20% less than 2015 giving which totaled $7 billion.Here are the 18 biggest charitable donations of 2016.Charitable giving to U.S. colleges and universities increased 1.7% to $41 billion in 2016; lower than the 7.6% increase in giving to colleges in 2015.
